Joseph Paul Knisell, who had not been heard from since Tuesday, May 2, was found safe in Manchester, New Hampshire on the afternoon of Thursday, May 18, the Townsend Police Department said.

"I am grateful that this missing persons case has been brought to a successful conclusion, and I want to thank all the members of the public for their attention to this matter, said Townsend Police Chief James Sartell.

A family member reported Knisell missing on Saturday, May 13. An investigation into his disappearance found that his cell phone had not been active since Sunday, May 7, when it was pinged in the area of Manchester.

“Our main goal is to locate Mr. Knisell to check his welfare, because he may be in need of medications that he requires,” said Sgt. George Reidy, who is investigating the case.

Knisell's vehicle, a white 2014 Jeep Patriot with Massachusetts license plate 2RAY93, was also missing.

He previously lived in Sarasota, Florida, and may still have connections there, police say.

Townsend Police worked with other police departments in the area and in Manchester to find Knisell.
